Book Trailers That Put Your Cover in Motion
Short, cinematic videos that sell your book on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and your own website. Every trailer, teaser and animated cover is cut by hand by an experienced editor, from the same team that designs the covers.
Packages from $150 USD. Animated covers from $100 with a DesignDusk cover.
Sample book trailers
A trailer should make someone curious about the book. Watch a few and you will know if the style fits yours.
Readers scroll past pictures. They stop for motion.
BookTok, Reels and Shorts run on video. A static cover post works hard to get a glance. A trailer gets watched.
DesignDusk sits in the gap: hand-edited video at working-author prices, sized for every platform you post on.
Video is where readers are
Fiction discovery has moved to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, and those feeds are built for video, not stills.
DIY editing eats launch weeks
Editors, templates, music, pacing and captions are a real skill. Your launch month has better uses for that time.
Music rights are a trap
A trailer with an unlicensed track can be muted or pulled by the platform after you have shared it everywhere.
AI generators look like AI
$29 tools render one landscape file at 720p from a form. Readers can tell. So can you.
One video is never the right size
TikTok wants vertical, YouTube wants widescreen, feeds want square. Each place needs its own cut.
Trailer, teaser, promo video: which one do you need?
The names overlap, and half the industry uses them interchangeably. What matters is length and job. An animated cover is your existing cover art with motion added, made to loop quietly on a profile or a launch post. A teaser runs 15 to 20 seconds: one hook, one mood, built for social feeds and cover reveals. A full book trailer runs 45 to 60 seconds and has room for a premise, an atmosphere and a call to action. A launch suite is all of it, cut to match, so every platform gets the right version of the same idea. If you are not sure which fits, pick "recommend something" on the form and tell us where you plan to post.
Pick the video, see the price
All prices in USD. No discovery call, no quote roulette: what you see is the price, and anything custom is quoted before work starts.

Will a trailer sell your book?
Here is the honest version. A trailer is a discovery asset. It stops a scroll, gives your launch real material and makes your book look like something worth a click. It cannot invent an audience, and nobody selling trailers should promise you sales. Trailers work hardest when they are attached to something: a launch, a mailing list, an ad budget, an active feed. If all you need is a beautiful file, we would rather tell you that before you pay than let you find out after.

What we need from you
No shot list, no video experience. A few basics are enough.
If DesignDusk made your cover, we already hold the layered source files, which is exactly what animation wants. It is why the bundle prices exist.
The trailer starts with the cover.
Every video we make is built around cover art, so the cover comes first. Pick an exclusive premade design or commission a custom cover, and the same team carries its look straight into motion. Covers bought here also unlock the bundle prices above.

Share what you can. If you are not sure what to order, pick "recommend something" and tell us where you plan to post.
Book Trailer FAQs
How much does a book trailer cost?
Our packages are fixed and public: an animated cover is $150, a social teaser is $195, a full book trailer is $395 and the launch suite is $495, all in USD. Buying a DesignDusk cover drops the animated cover to $100 and the teaser to $150. Elsewhere the market runs from $29 AI generators to studios charging $3,500 and up, which is exactly why we publish our prices.
What is a book trailer?
A short promotional video for a book, cut like a film trailer. It uses footage, music, text and your cover to set the mood of the story and give readers a reason to look the book up. Most run between 15 and 60 seconds.
Do book trailers actually sell books?
A trailer is a discovery tool, not a sales guarantee, and anyone who promises otherwise is selling you something. What it reliably does is travel better than a static image: video is what TikTok, Instagram and YouTube feeds are built to show people. The trailer gets your book seen. The cover, the blurb and the reviews still close the sale.
What is an animated book cover?
Your existing cover art with subtle motion added. It loops cleanly, so it works as a pinned post, a profile header or a quiet way to keep your feed alive between launches. It is the smallest video we make and the fastest to deliver.
What is the difference between a teaser and a trailer?
Length and job. A teaser is 15 to 20 seconds: one hook, one mood, built for feeds and cover reveals. A trailer is 45 to 60 seconds and has room for a premise, an atmosphere and a call to action. If you are launching wide, the suite includes both plus the cutdowns.
Where can I use my videos?
Anywhere you can post video: TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube and Shorts, Facebook, your website and newsletter, and your Amazon author page through Author Central. Your package lists the sizes you get, and every trailer package includes vertical and widescreen versions.
What do you need from me to start?
Your cover, your blurb or a short description, the genre, and where you plan to post. If you have extra artwork or photos you own, send those too. You do not need a script; writing one is part of the job.
I do not have a cover yet. Can you still make the trailer?
The cover comes first, because the video is built around it. Covers are our main craft: pick an exclusive premade design from the shop or commission a custom cover, and the trailer carries that exact look. That order also gets you the bundle pricing.
Can you animate a cover another designer made?
Yes, with the best file you have. Flat images still animate well; layered source files open more options. You must have the rights to the artwork, and the original designer keeps the credit for the cover itself.
What about music rights?
Every track we use is licensed for promotional use, so your video is safe to post. If you supply your own music, you need to hold the rights to it.
How many revisions are included?
One round on the animated cover and the teaser, two rounds on the trailer and the suite. Revisions refine the approved direction: timing, text, clip swaps. A brand-new concept after editing has started is new work and is quoted first.
How long does it take?
Your reply comes with a schedule before you pay, and the schedule is the promise. If you are working to a launch date, say so in the form and we will tell you plainly whether it is doable.
Can I just use an AI trailer generator?
You can, and for some books a $29 render is enough. Look closely first: the output is one landscape file, usually 720p, no vertical cuts, and the revisions are a re-roll. Our videos are edited by hand, delivered in full HD in the sizes feeds actually use, and revised by a person who read your blurb.
Do you make trailers for my genre?
Yes. Romance, fantasy, thriller, horror, sci-fi, children's books, memoir and nonfiction each have their own visual language, the same way covers do. We design covers across all of them, and the trailer draws on the same genre instincts.
Who owns the finished video?
You get the final rendered files, licensed for your promotional use everywhere: social, ads, your website, events. Project files and the individual licensed assets inside the edit stay with us, which is standard for stock-based video.
