Premade Book Covers
Do you accept returns?
We don’t accept change-of-mind returns, because every cover is personalised for you and each premade design is sold once and then retired. Your consumer guarantees are unaffected: if a file is faulty, not as described, or never arrives, we will fix it or refund you. Ask us anything before you buy.
Can I exchange my purchase for a different cover?
If we have not yet provided you with the files, it may be possible to exchange your purchase for a different product or service. Please contact our customer support team at support@designdusk.com as soon as possible to discuss your options.
Can I get a refund if I'm not satisfied with my purchase?
Because every cover is personalised and sold once, we don’t offer change-of-mind refunds. That doesn’t affect your rights: if a file is faulty, not as described, or never arrives, you are covered by the consumer guarantees in your country (including the Australian Consumer Law) and we will fix it or refund you. Ask us anything before you buy — we answer quickly.
How do I contact my designer after purchasing?
The simplest way is to reply to your order confirmation email — replies go straight to the designer working on your cover. You can also email support@designdusk.com with your order number at any time. If you checked out with a DesignDusk account, the order chat in your account area works too.
How long will it take to make text changes to my premade cover?
Text changes on premade book covers can typically be completed in less than 10 hours.
Can I choose the fonts for my premade cover?
Please contact us regarding font selection, as certain fonts may not be compatible with the design.
I've found a nearly perfect cover but need some tweaks. Can you help?
Certainly, we can make those small tweaks for you. Please note that some adjustments may incur additional costs.
What size and resolution will my book cover be?
Ebook covers are delivered at 1,600 × 2,560 pixels — Amazon KDP’s recommended size, which also meets Apple Books, Kobo and Google Play requirements. Print covers are prepared at 300 DPI and sized to your exact trim size, page count and paper type using the KDP or IngramSpark template.
Read the Book Cover Size & Dimensions Guide →I need another line on the cover. Can you do this for me?
Certainly! You can request additional text fields for your cover through our Contact Us page.
Do I get the ebook cover along with my print book cover?
Yes — choose the “Ebook + Paperback Cover” option on the product page and both are included: the print-ready paperback cover plus the matching ebook cover.
Can I edit the design later myself?
Yes, we do provide source files upon request. For pricing details, please get in touch with us.
Are your book covers made with AI?
Most of our covers are created entirely by our designers. A small number combine AI-generated elements with real design work, and those are clearly labelled AI + Human, both in the shop and on the product page. Every finished cover, whatever its starting point, is composed, refined, typeset and quality-checked by a real designer. For custom projects, tell us before ordering if you prefer a cover created without generative AI.
Purchasing & Payments
Which payment methods do you accept?
We accept PayPal (including Pay in 4 where available), Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link and all major credit and debit cards, processed securely by Stripe. For any assistance, feel free to contact our customer support.
What is your returns / refund policy?
We don’t offer change-of-mind refunds, though your consumer guarantees always apply — if something is faulty, not as described, or never reaches you, we will put it right. Every premade cover is sold once and permanently retired from the store the moment you buy it, and your files — personalised with your title and author name — are emailed to you within 24 hours. Because of that exclusivity we can’t take a cover back once it is yours — but that is a change-of-mind limit, not a limit on your rights. Review the design carefully and ask us anything before you buy.
How long does a custom cover take?
Premade covers are personalised with your title and author name and emailed within <strong>24 hours</strong> of purchase. Custom covers start with your brief; first concepts usually reach you within 24 hours of us confirming the details, and the finished print-ready files follow once you have approved the direction.
How do I purchase a premade book cover?
Add your book title and author name on the cover’s product page, click “Claim This Exclusive Cover”, and you’ll go straight to checkout — no account needed. Buying more than one? Use “Add another cover” at checkout. We only ask for your email, name and country, and your personalised files are emailed within 24 hours of purchase.
How DesignDusk Works
Can I see a mockup of my cover before I pay?
The cover image on the product page is the finished design — after purchase we personalise it with your exact title and author name, so what you see is what you get. Some covers also offer a live preview button that lets you type your own title onto the design before buying. If you’d like anything checked or tweaked before ordering, email support@designdusk.com and we’ll help.
How can I search for a book cover?
Simply use our search bar to enter relevant keywords or genres, then explore the results to discover a cover that best suits your book’s theme.
What are the licensing restrictions on my cover?
License duration: perpetual. Usage coverage: worldwide. Digital usage (websites, mobile apps, software, ebooks, etc.): unlimited. Print runs (books, magazines, posters, etc.): up to 500,000 copies. If you require an extended license with unlimited print runs, please inform us and we’ll handle it for you.
What’s the difference between copyright and licence?
There are distinctions between holding copyright and acquiring an image licence. When you own the copyright, you enjoy unrestricted control and usage. However, as image creators typically retain copyright, purchasing a licence is often necessary. Licences come with specific terms — such as copy limits, geographic restrictions, and media usage conditions — all detailed in the contract. Adhering to these terms is essential when using licensed images.
Why should I choose DesignDusk?
We incorporate paid content into our premade covers. Our primary sources for cover images are Shutterstock and Freepik, and we’ve invested in each image used, ensuring its quality and legality. We also leverage AI technology to enhance our designs, ensuring each cover is unique and visually striking.
Should I credit the book cover designer?
While it’s not obligatory, it would certainly be appreciated by our designer at DesignDusk. You can give credit by including “Cover Design: DesignDusk.com” on your book’s copyright page. If you prefer to specify a particular designer’s name, reach out to support@designdusk.com and we’ll provide it for that specific cover.
Custom Book Covers
How do we communicate during my custom cover project?
By email, directly with your designer. After you order we email you within 24 hours with your initial draft or any questions, and you can share reference files, feedback and revision requests simply by replying. If you have a DesignDusk account, the order chat in your account area is available too.
Can I send the picture I want used on my book cover?
You can use high-resolution images you own, but be cautious with internet images, as most are copyrighted. The lack of a © symbol doesn’t imply they’re free. For commercial book covers, obtain the artist’s permission or buy from stock photo sites. While personal images are acceptable, professionalism is key for a compelling book cover.
How long does it take to design a custom cover?
We strive for efficiency in our design process. You can expect the initial draft of your high-quality book cover within 24 hours. After the basics are in place, we’ll spend an additional 48 hours refining and polishing the cover.
How many revisions can I ask for?
Revisions are unlimited and free for all our packages. We’re dedicated to ensuring you get the book cover you desire. Trust in our skilled designers, who are experts at their craft.
Do I have to pay for the stock image?
Stock images are included in our cover design pricing, whether it’s a premade or custom design. Simply provide your preferred images and we’ll manage the rest through Shutterstock.com.
Can you draw or illustrate something for my cover?
Certainly — we are skilled illustrators able to create custom illustrations tailored to your specific requirements. While our primary expertise lies in graphic design, we also excel in illustration when needed. Whether you prefer photographic stock images, typography, or bespoke illustrations, we’re equipped to bring your vision to life.
What format will my custom-made cover be delivered in?
We typically provide the entire cover (front, spine, and back) in high-resolution JPG and PDF formats, plus 3D mock-ups for promotional use. If you require a specific format, please let us know and we’ll accommodate your request.
Can I purchase the front cover now and the spine and back later?
Absolutely — you can purchase the front cover separately now and acquire the spine and back later, whenever it suits you. We understand your requirements may evolve, so feel free to make your selections at your convenience and we’ll assist you when you’re ready for the next steps.
What is the difference between a premade and a custom book cover?
Premade book covers are pre-designed and ready to buy with limited customization. Custom book covers are uniquely crafted from scratch, offering extensive personalization to align with your book’s content and vision. Premade covers are quicker and budget-friendly; custom covers provide a one-of-a-kind look at a higher cost and longer timeline.
Do I need an ISBN before ordering a cover?
No. You can order your cover before you have an ISBN — the numbers do not expire, so many authors buy or assign one closer to publication. If you already have your ISBN or barcode, or KDP will generate one for you, just let your designer know so it can be placed correctly.
See our ISBN guide for self-publishers →No questions match your search. Try a different keyword, or contact us.
