Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 July 2026

DesignDusk.com (“DesignDusk”, “we”, “us”) is operated from Perth, Western Australia. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit or buy from designdusk.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

We collect information you give us directly:

  • Order details (name, email, billing/shipping address, items purchased) when you place an order.
  • Your email address and stated genre preference when you subscribe to our newsletter.
  • Your name, email, and message when you contact us or request a custom cover brief.
  • Any book title, synopsis, or brief details you provide for a custom cover — used only to design your cover, never for analytics or marketing.

We do not collect payment card details ourselves — these are handled directly by our payment processors (see below).

How we use your information

  • To process and deliver your order, and to provide customer support.
  • To send order-related emails (confirmation, delivery, receipts).
  • To send newsletter emails, only if you’ve subscribed — you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.
  • To design custom covers based on the brief you provide.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) to understand which covers and pages are useful to visitors, so we can improve the site. If you are in the EU or UK, this only runs if you click “Accept” on the cookie banner. Everywhere else it runs by default. Either way, choosing “Decline” stops all collection, and nothing more is sent to Google. You can change your choice anytime using the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer.

When analytics is active, we collect anonymous, aggregated information such as: pages viewed, products viewed, general on-site actions (like adding a cover to your cart), device/browser type, and approximate location (country/region only).

We never send the following to Google Analytics, even with consent: your name, email address, phone number, physical address, book titles, synopses, custom-cover brief content, uploaded files, or order confirmation codes. Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then automatically deleted.

We also use a Pinterest tag to measure whether our Pinterest ads lead to visits and orders. It follows the same consent rules and the same no-personal-data list as our analytics. We do not run remarketing or ad personalization of any kind.

Separately, when you complete an order we record which link or campaign brought you to the site (for example, “from Pinterest” or “from an email link”) directly on that order, so we know which of our own marketing efforts are working. This is first-party information only — it’s stored on our own systems, never sent to Google or any other third party, and applies regardless of your cookie banner choice.

Essential cookies (for example, to remember items in your cart and keep checkout secure) are used regardless of your analytics choice — the site cannot function without these, and they don’t identify you personally beyond what’s needed to complete your order.

Who we share information with

We do not sell or trade your personal information. We share information only where necessary to run the store:

  • Payment processors (Stripe, PayPal) — to process your payment. They handle your card/payment details directly; we never see or store full card numbers.
  • Google Analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage data, only if you accept analytics cookies (see above).
  • MailerLite — your email address, only if you subscribe to our newsletter, to send those emails.
  • Our hosting provider — to run the website and process orders securely.

Security

  • All pages are served over HTTPS (SSL encryption).
  • Payment details are never stored on our servers — they’re handled entirely by Stripe/PayPal.
  • Access to customer data is limited to what’s needed to run the store.

Your rights and choices

  • Decline or withdraw analytics consent anytime via “Cookie settings” in the footer.
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter anytime via the link in any newsletter email.
  • Ask us what personal information we hold about you, or request it be corrected or deleted, by contacting us below (order records may be kept longer where required for accounting/legal purposes).

Children’s privacy

DesignDusk is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above.

Refunds

Because our premade covers are sold once and retired immediately after purchase, digital delivery is final once the file has been sent. If a file fails to deliver, is corrupted, or wasn’t available for download due to an error on our end, contact us and we’ll resolve it — including a replacement file or refund as appropriate. Custom cover orders may be refunded if the design process has not yet started; once design work has begun, refunds are considered case by case. Contact us if you have any issue with an order.
