How Our Custom Covers Are Created
Authors should know how the cover they purchase was created. Depending on the project, our work may combine licensed stock photography, manual photo compositing, typography, original illustration and selected AI-generated or AI-assisted elements.
Every final cover is directed, composed, edited, typeset and quality-checked by a human designer. We do not treat a raw generated image as a finished book cover.
AI-assisted tools may be used to extend, clean, refine or improve imagery. Authors who prefer a custom direction without generative AI should tell us before ordering so we can confirm the available option for the project.

What is a custom book cover?
A custom book cover is developed specifically for one book using its genre, synopsis, audience, themes and the author’s brief. It is not selected from the existing premade-cover catalogue.
What do I need before ordering?
You should know the title, author name, genre and basic description of the book. Visual references are helpful but not required. Print details such as page count and back-cover text can normally be supplied later, before the print wrap is completed.
Can you design covers for Amazon KDP and IngramSpark?
Yes. DesignDusk can prepare print files using the appropriate KDP or IngramSpark template. Because their production specifications differ, separate files may be needed for each printer.
Can I order an ebook cover first and add print later?
Yes. The front cover can be completed first, and a paperback, hardback or audiobook format can be added later. The final print wrap still requires the trim size, page count, paper details and publishing platform.
Can you design a matching book series?
Yes. Tell us about the planned series before the first design begins so that typography, composition and recurring visual elements can be developed as a flexible system.
What if I do not know what I want?
Share the synopsis, genre, audience and any covers that feel appropriate. The designer can use that information to propose a direction. It is also helpful to explain what you do not want.
Can I supply my own image?
Yes, provided the file is large enough and you hold the necessary permission or licence to use it commercially. The designer will confirm whether its quality and composition are suitable.
Do you use AI in custom book covers?
Some projects may use AI-generated or AI-assisted elements, while others use licensed stock, manual compositing, typography or illustration. Every final cover is human-directed and edited. Tell us before ordering when you prefer a direction without generative AI.
What files will I receive?
The files depend on the selected package and add-ons. They may include a high-resolution ebook cover, print-ready PDF, JPG or PNG files, a promotional mockup and additional formats purchased with the order.
How long does a custom cover take?
Timing depends on the selected package, project complexity, feedback and required formats. The applicable product page or project confirmation should state the current estimated timeline.
