Quick answer
Every premade cover on our shelf includes free personalisation. You type your title and author name at purchase, add a tagline if you want one, and a designer sets them in the cover’s typography. Final ebook and print files are emailed within 24 hours, and the design retires forever.
The question buyers ask most before paying for a premade is some version of “but how does my title get on it?” Fair question: the product photo shows someone else’s placeholder text, and no author wants to buy a poster they then have to edit themselves. So here is the actual process, start to finish, using real covers from our catalogue to show exactly where your words go.
1,610 premade designs are in stock as of this update, each sold exactly once and then retired. Designer-created covers are $49.99 ebook, $99.99 with paperback wrap, $149.99 with hardback. The labelled AI + Human tier is $24.99 / $59.99 / $99.99.
The 4 steps, from click to files
- Pick your cover. Browse a shelf such as romance or fantasy and open the design. What you see is the finished artwork; only the words change.
- Type your text at purchase. The product page has short fields for your book title and author name, plus an optional tagline. Then the claim button takes you to checkout. No account needed; we ask for your email, name and country and nothing else.
- A designer sets your words. Not a font-swap script: a person places your title, name and tagline into the cover’s existing type treatment, rebalancing sizes and spacing so a nine-word title and a two-word title both sit right.
- Files arrive by email within 24 hours, and the design leaves the store. Sold once, retired forever, so no other book will ever wear it.
Skipped a field in the rush? Just reply to your order confirmation email with the missing text and we take it from there.
Where do the title and author name actually go?
Every premade is composed around two reserved text zones, and the placeholder text shows you exactly where they are. Here is a worked example from the romance shelf:
Celestial Hearts
Celestial Hearts (designer-created, $49.99 ebook tier) keeps its two text zones completely clear of the focal image. The title runs in a hand-lettered script across the open sky in the upper third, where nothing competes with it, and the author line sits in the darkened grass band along the bottom in spaced white capitals. Your title replaces the script, your pen name replaces “Written by You”, both in the same typefaces, sizes rebalanced to your word count.

That placeholder author line, “Written by You”, appears across our catalogue for a reason: it marks the exact spot your name will occupy, set in the type the designer already chose to suit the artwork. You are not guessing whether your text will fit the composition. The composition was built around it.
What if my title is long?
Length is a layout question, and it has layout answers. A long title gets stacked rather than shrunk: two or three lines with the key word given the heaviest weight, so the cover still reads at thumbnail size. Here is a fantasy example with a stacked title treatment:
Vault of Scales
Vault of Scales is from our labelled AI + Human tier at $24.99, AI-assisted and priced accordingly. The ornate gradient title already runs as a two-line stack, which is exactly how a longer replacement title would be handled: the designer redistributes your words across the stack and adjusts letter size so the block keeps its shape against the sky. The cream author line at the bottom stays put whatever happens above it.

The practical limits, from setting titles into premades every day:
- Up to about six words, almost any design works.
- Seven to twelve words usually means a stacked treatment, so covers with generous sky, wall or darkness around the title zone handle it best.
- A subtitle on top of a long title starts crowding fiction layouts; nonfiction designs tend to reserve space for one.
- If in doubt, email us the exact wording before you buy and we will tell you straight whether the design can carry it.
Fonts, taglines and series names
Can the fonts change? Within the design’s art direction, yes: small adjustments to size, spacing and arrangement are part of normal personalisation. A wholesale font swap is a different thing. The typography usually is the design, so replacing an ornate fantasy display face with a clean sans makes a worse cover, not a personalised one. If you want fundamentally different type, that is a custom project, not a premade tweak; custom runs $120 to $350.
A tagline slots into whichever quiet zone the composition offers, commonly above the title or above the author line. A series name and book number work the same way and matter more than most buyers expect: “Book Two of the Ember Cycle” changes the balance of the whole text block, so tell us it exists even if the wording is not final.
What files you get, and what happens to the cover
The ebook tier delivers your personalised cover sized for retailers, with a 3D mockup for your marketing. The paperback and hardback tiers add the full print wrap, front, spine and back, built to your printer’s template, which is why we ask for your trim size and page count before building it. The numbers behind wraps and spines are in our book cover size guide, and the full route-by-route pricing picture is in the cover design cost guide.
Then the design retires. Sold once means removed from the store at purchase, permanently, which is also why we cannot offer change-of-mind refunds: a personalised, retired cover cannot go back on the shelf. Your consumer guarantees are unaffected; a faulty file or a file that never arrives gets fixed or refunded. If you are still weighing this format against commissioning something from scratch, the honest comparison is in premade vs custom.
FAQ
Every design personalised free and sold exactly once. 1,610 covers in stock: start with the romance shelf or fantasy shelf, from $24.99.
Yes, and it is included free. You enter your book title and author name at purchase, with an optional tagline, and a designer sets them into the cover’s existing typography, balanced to the composition. The personalised files are then emailed to you within 24 hours.
Within 24 hours from purchase. The design already exists, so the only remaining work is a designer placing your title, author name and any tagline into the reserved text zones and rebalancing sizes. There are no concept rounds or approval stages to wait on.
Small adjustments, yes: size, spacing and line arrangement are part of normal personalisation. A complete font replacement usually is not offered, because the typography carries the design’s genre signal. If you need genuinely different type, a custom cover is the right route rather than a reworked premade.
The ebook tier is the ebook file only. Paperback and hardback tiers add the full print wrap, front, spine and back, built to your printer’s template once you confirm trim size and page count. At our shop that is $99.99 with paperback or $149.99 with hardback for designer-created covers.
